CLARIN, Bohol – Mayor Hermogenes Diezon is confident that establishing the XCL tilapia hatchery here would boost the town’s economic development and give farmers and fisher folk a good source of livelihood.
Clarin has been picked as the pilot area for tilapia culture.
Mayor Diezon assured that since the national government picked Clarin as pilot area to breed the new tilapia specie to be dispersed to other towns, his administration will strongly support the project.

POLICE filed Wednesday a complaint for violation of the anti-fencing law against the antique dealer who had in his possession a number of religious artifacts believed to be stolen from different churches in the Visayas region.
Among the items seized during a raid last April 28 at Bacus’ residence in barangay Basak-San Nicholas (not Barangay Mambaling as earlier reported) were three religious images, which the two Bohol officials said, belonged to their chapel.
As this developed, the claimants from Bohol also sought the court’s advice if they could take with them the five religious artifacts so that these could be used during the procession for their upcoming fiesta celebration on May 15.

 BFAR Turns Over Biggest Fingerling Dispersal To Negros Oriental   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
To boost the TILAPIA production in the fish farms and fish ponds in Negros Oriental, some 550,000 genetically enhanced TILAPIA for excel- lence (GET-EXCEL) fingerlings were turned to the province today by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
The said fingerlings, which came from Clarin Freshwater Fishfarm, Caluwasan, Clarin, Bohol is the biggest dispersal done by BFAR this year.
The fingerlings will be distributed to the fish farms in East Balabag, Valencia, Tanjay City, Maslog, Sibulan and Baywan City along with the Barangay Agricultural Development Centers (BADC’s) in the province and will be utilized by the Farmers Field School on Tilapia.
