		The island is inhabited by abalone and lobster fishermen and their homes are in Camp East, where the dwellings and boats are protected from the strong winter winds and heavy seas by a beautiful bay.
		The island dwellers’ hospitality was evident from the moment we arrived, as we were immediately invited to have supper consisting of a delicious lobster salad (“you can’t get it fresher than this”, said the housewife).

		The three eastern islands are called the inner islands, while Clarión is comparatively far to the west, by more than 200 km, and in a different time zone in comparison with the inner islands.
		The Revillagigedo Islands (or Revillagigedo Archipelago), not to be confused with Revillagigedo Island of Alaska, are a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean at approximately 18° N 112° W.
		The Revillagigedo Islands have been visited by a number of other explorers: Domingo del Castillo (1541), Miguel Pinto (1772), Alexander von Humboldt (1811), Benjamín Norell (1825), Sir Edward Belcher (1839) who made the first botanical collections, and Reeve (1848) who witnessed the eruption of Mount Evermann.

		This area off Baja is quite virgin noted by the volcano eruption on Socorro Island in early 1993 causing the island to be evacuated.
		These two islands are the oldest of the group and are covered with dense vegetation while San Benidicto, an active volcano, is the youngest and still quite barren.
		On Socorro and Clarion the Mexican Navy maintains weathers stations.
