Clarke County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa.
It is named in honor of James Clarke, who was appointed Governor of Iowa Territory in November 1845 and was the last Territorial Governor, since Iowa was admitted to the Union on Dec. 28, 1846.
In the county the population was spread out with 26.30% under the age of 18, 7.60% from 18 to 24, 26.50% from 25 to 44, 22.50% from 45 to 64, and 17.10% who were 65 years of age or older.
