Utilizing a cast of numerous singers and instrumentalists, the Classic Albums Live crew stayed true to their motto of "Note for note, cut for cut," as the performance was at times difficult to differentiate from the 1979 original, which stayed at the top of the U.S. charts for an 15 consecutive weeks.
Classic Albums Live, a rotating group of travelling performers, has taken it upon itself to do music lovers a service: recreate classic albums in their entirety.
While he did mention which album they would be recreating, he also mentioned that he wasn't supposed to mention it yet, and for this reason, you'll just have to wait to find out.

The latter albums (with poster art on the covers) have fallen completely out of print, and while new copies of the 'fl book' formatted RCA albums of early 1997 are also difficult to find, they are readily available for sub-street price on the used market.
In 2004, the Sony Classical label, which had been releasing the second trilogy scores, had acquired the rights to the classic scores and decided to re-press the 1997 releases with new artwork.
In fact, the 2004 albums are badly lacking in packaging compared to previous releases, with absolutely none of the fantastic notes and pictorials presented in the 1993 or 1997 releases.

Any 30+ music lover probably has this essential album in their collection, but to all you youngsters who want to know why Prince was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, this is partly why.
Prince has created at least three masterpieces that are all outstanding in their own right (this album, "Purple Rain", "1999",...the outstanding "Dirty Mind" comes pretty close too), but this album has the broadest range of them all.
This album is one of Prince's most light and airy releases and was made at a time when his pop sensibilities were at their strongest, so this album should be pretty easily accessible to most.

The albums' overdub musicians also talk about their parts on the album, including Wayne Perkins, Winston "Sparrow" Martin who played drums on "Stir It Up," John "Rabbit" Bundrick who was the added organist at the overdub sessions, as well as Robbie Shakespeare.
What is fascinating about these interviews is that if it were not for this "Classic Albums" film, these individuals would most likely have gone unnoticed by fans because no mention of them is made on the actual album credits.
Even though the album was not greatly received upon its initial release, the years since have proven that "Catch A Fire" is truly one of the greatest records in musical history, selling well over one million copies.

Although some of the songs are the same, this album is a much broader interpretation of Neil's career up to that time.
Over the years, I think the album has suffered somewhat by having such a similar title to Rust Never Sleeps, as these albums are really quite different in both construction and tone.
Originally a double LP, "Live Rust" is divided about equally between acoustic numbers and electric rock n' roll, and while it doesn't quite match the searing power of "Weld", "Live Rust" comes off an excellent live album and a fine career summary, including both older material and then-new songs.
