THE ODYSSEY » Blog Archive » GBA CLASSIC NES SERIES: WHERE’S THE DAMN ZELDA MAP?
Despite the fact that all of the rereleased classic NES titles would likely fit on a single cartridge, Legend of Zelda manages to provide enough singular thrills to make it worthwhile.
If Nintendo had released its NES Classics series as a compilation, they would probably have sold bazillions of cartidges and countless Game Boy Advance systems to old video game afficionados, but it’s easier to understand why Zelda would be released on its own.
Because of this, many of Nintendo’s classic games, however primitive, are not justly documented with the 1-page-per-game instructions that are found on classic compilations today.

Classic NES Series: The Legend of Zelda > Review
Nintendo, on the other hand, is now bringing us their Classic NES Series, which is essentially their way of taking a bunch of games released decades ago, porting them completely unchanged, and selling them for $20 apeice.
Let's face it, if you've played this game back on the NES, and hold it in the high regard it demanded from the world when it was originally released, odds are you still have a copy, which makes a straight port to superior hardware a tad underwhelming.
Either way, despite being the only worthwhile title in the Classic NES Series, The Legend of Zelda will still undoubtedly leave a sour taste in the mouths of almost everyone who plays it, which is sad because this is one of the best games ever created.

Classic NES Series: The Legend of Zelda - GameBoy Advance Review
In case you’re unfamiliar with the story of the original adventure, the wicked, pig-like Ganon, in possession of the Triforce of Power has kidnapped Princess Zelda in order to steal the Triforce of Wisdom from her; if he were to obtain it, he would be unstoppable.
From start to finish, this incarnation of Zelda is a faithful recreation of the NES classic, and, generally, this is a very good thing.
If you’re thinking about buying the Classic NES version of The Legend of Zelda (or any of the Classic NES games, for that matter), the important thing to understand is that you’re getting exactly that, being the version that came out for the NES; you get nothing more and nothing less.

The Classic NES series is almost exactly that: nostalgia inducing games that many of us grew up on.
Even though it was only the second title of the series, we finally found out that Hyrule is not solely populated by geriatric men and women residing within caves.
Being the Zelda series' first and only foray into side-scrolling, 2D fighting, the sprites are nicely animated in all of their 8-bit glory.

For those old enough to remember the NES glory days, the graphics will bring back a lot of memories; for new gamers, however, they may find it difficult to get over the primitive graphics and into the game itself.
I was bit disappointed with its simplicity compare with 'evolved' series, however, playing the first dungeon convinced me that this classic is not about just simplicity; it's actually challenging.
I believe not only just having a classic of this magnitude itself is worths Five Stars but also being able to play this release of retro game, which ACTUALLY provides enough challenge and fun factor at your fingertip is more than enough.

After looking at six of the eight games in Nintendo’s Classic NES Series, I have to say that gamers should take a pass on them.
While the franchise did get its start on the NES and is highly respected, an avid Bomberman player knows Bomberman did not fully mature as a game until the TurboGrafx-16 and that it is the multiplayer that makes the game at all worthwhile.
While I have little doubt that Super Mario Bros. and the Legend of Zelda are going to sell well on their playability and nostalgia factors alone, I doubt that the rest of the Classic NES Series is going to do as well.
