From 2005, the Classics have formed part of the UCI ProTour run by the Union Cycliste Internationale.
La Doyenne, the oldest Classic, was first held in 1892 as an amateur event; a professional edition following in 1894.

It wasn't a typical slippery daytime race, however, just that there was so much traction all over that the fastest way around the track was the shortest way.
When we got out in our heat race, it was certain that the changes helped, as I consistently went faster than in qualifying, and went on to win by a nice margin.
Race fans were not disappointed as International Championship Events/ICE had assembled the most talented and accomplished field of riders in history for their first ever off shore event.

 EGCC - 2006 Menzies Classic Cycle Race
The race commenced in 1928, following a discussion at a club meeting concerning the lack of distance races on the Goldfields, Messrs J Richards, JC Walsh, Chas Egan along with a small committee set about organising a long distance event.
From its inauguration in 1928 until 1932 the race was known as the Menzies–Kalgoorlie Road Race, but two days before the race of that year Charlie Egan, the well-liked and highly respected secretary of the club, tragically died, and all riders in the race that year wore fl armbands as a token of repect.
It was decided later that the race of which Chas Egan was one of the originators, should in future be known as the “Chas Egan Memorial Race”.

This road race is along a 13.1 mile course which begins and ends in downtown Mora.
In addition to the awards given in each event, the Mora Classic Committee awards a handsome Mora Classic Medal to anyone who completes all four events in the same annual cycle, beginning with the canoe race in the spring and concluding with the Vasaloppet X-country ski race the following winter.

In loose terms, the schedule is Friday (practice), Saturday (qualifying) and Sunday (racing).
The actual race is at 6:00 am Pacific/ 9:00 am Eastern.
The motoGP web site offers free "live timing" during the races and also the practice and qualifying.  Also, with a broadband connection, you can watch the race live on your PC for about $9.  I've done it before and the quality is very good.
