		Claude Wilson Osteen (born August 9, 1939 in Caney Spring, Tennessee) is a former left-handed starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for a number of teams: the Cincinnati Redlegs/Reds (1957-1961), Washington Senators (1961-1964), Los Angeles Dodgers (1965-1973), Houston Astros (1974), St.
		Osteen's final postseason statistics include a 0.86 ERA with 7 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched.
		In 1970, Osteen pitched three shutout innings in the all-star game and got the win, a game remembered most by Pete Rose's barreling into Ray Fosse to score the winning run in the 12th inning.

		Obtained from Washington in a seven-player deal for Frank Howard in December 1964 after winning 15 for the ninth-place Senators, he became the Dodgers' third starter behind Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale.
		Typical of Osteen's hard luck, his 40 shutouts were topped by the 47 thrown against him.

	Astroland N - O: The World's Most Complete Listing of Houston Astro Baseball Cards
		25th-winningest lefty of all-time was an Astro for 252 days, the period of time between December 6, 1973, when Osteen and Dave Culpepper were received from the Dodgers in exchange for Jimmy Wynn, and August 15, 1974, when Osteen was traded to the Cardinals for Dan Larson and Ron Selak.
		Wynn of course had perhaps his best year for the Dodgers in '74, while Osteen was 9 - 9 with a couple of shutouts and an adjusted ERA of 94 for Houston.
		Although he ended up with a losing record, Larson in actuality had a better adjusted ERA in his initial season in Houston than Osteen did in his abbreviated campaign.
