Claude Piron - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Claude Piron (born 1931), a linguist and a psychologist, was a translator for the United Nations (from Chinese, English, Russian and Spanish into French) from 1956 to 1961.
After leaving the UN he worked for the World Health Organization all over the world, as well as being a prolific author of Esperanto works.
In a lecture on the current system of international communication Piron argued that "Esperanto relies entirely on innate reflexes." and "...differs from all other languages in that you can always trust your natural tendency to generalize patterns...The same neuropsychological law...- called by...

Li tezas, ke Esperanto pli facilas ĉar ĝi respegulas bazajn mensajn principojn rilate al lingva lernado, inter alie kaj plej grave, la ĝeneraligo de gramatikaj formoj kaj reguloj.

Esperanto: A Language for the Global Village - Chapter 23
From them Piron taught himself the language and then he taught it to his brother and a number of his schoolmates, and they used the language as their own secret language.
When they met again Piron was told, to his relief, that he was not crazy at all but that the people who were ridiculing Esperanto, dismissing it out of hand, were the ones who were acting crazy.
Because Piron has full professional qualifications in both the field of translation and the field of psychotherapy, he is in a good position to consider why a large number of otherwise perfectly normal individuals reject Esperanto out of hand without first spending as much as an hour examining the facts about the language.

Piron, Claude: Esperanto from the Viewpoint of an Author.
In this booklet Piron explains why, in his view, Esperanto is a language especially suitable for an author.
After a discussion of the structure, he also treats, in some detail, the sound system and rhythm of the language, the influence on connotations of various languages, the combinability of roots, and finally the “psycholinguistic bases” of the flexibility of Esperanto.

Review: La bona lingvo (Don HARLOW)
Piron describes and attacks this French practices, forced on Esperanto, in his booklet, and in doing so he even criticizes the uncriticizable Waringhien himself (pp.
What he wrote in theory in 1932, about the misevocativeness of the mal- words (Piron quotes in detail) apparently never stopped him from using those words, at least in ordinary prose -- in constrast with de Diego, who always prefers a mal-less rarity.
The cost is low, the printing is good (a rarity for a work from HEA!), the style -- Piron usually writes in "the good language" -- allows the book to be read through quite rapidly, even for the Esperantist who is only average.

An important place among Esperanto's traits is occupied by its multicultural substratum, in which the Asiatic and Hungarian contributions have played no small part (literary activity in the Esperanto language between the two world wars developed to a great extent in a Hungarian ambience, the so-called Budapest School; Hungarian is not Indo-European).

Other than the plan for making Esperanto the international communication link, the conference offered the Donoghues information on world concepts and on the breaking of communication walls.
