	Clausthal-Zellerfeld - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Actually, it comprises are two towns: Clausthal and Zellerfeld were merged in 1924 to form an administrative unit, but they are still separate towns.
		Clausthal is well known for the old Clausthal University of Technology and its magnificent buildings, while Zellerfeld is a typical tourist resort for hikers and winter sportsmen.
		The university of Clausthal was established in 1763 for the education of mining engineers.

		Clausthal is the chief mining town of the Upper Harz Mountains, and practically forms one town with Zellerfeld, which is separated from it by a small stream, the Zellbach.
		Clausthal was founded about the middle of the 12th century in consequence probably of the erection of a Benedictine monastery (closed in 1431), remains of which still exist in Zellerfeld.

		By means of computer simulations, scientists at the Technical Universities in Clausthal and Vienna are investigating new materials for even smaller and more efficient transistor generations.
		The charge pattern of the oxide layer, which is comparable with the plug-in pattern of a Lego building block, matches the pattern of the silicon surface saturated with strontium.
		For the researchers in Vienna and Clausthal, the conclusions concerning the electrical properties are also promising for the future.
