 | | J.J. Bradley, prominent farmer and business man of Mt. Andrew, is a native of Alabama, born in the year 1847, January 20th, in Barbour county. |
 | | Paternally he is descended from Irish ancestors, his grandfather, Hobbs Bradley, emigrating to America from the Emerald Isle at an early date and settling in Delaware, thence moving to Edgefield district, S. C., where his death occurred many years ago. |
 | | He responded to the call of his beloved state in 1863, as a private in company A, First Alabama volunteer infantry, and served as such until the close of the war, participating in the battles of the Atlanta campaign, Franklin and Nashville, Tenn., and surrendered at Greensboro, N. in 1865. |
