| | BRENTANO, FRANZ CLEMENS (Site not responding. Last check: ) |
 | | Brentano’s philosophical interests were widely varied: he did work in psychology, logic, the theory of knowledge, the philosophy of mind, axiology, ethics, ontology, and the philosophy of language. |
 | | In the second phase of his work, Brentano rejected all non-real and non-existent objects, such as objects that are merely thought (e.g., the unicorn), propositions, states of affairs and events, properties, and universals. |
 | | Brentano’s conception of philosophy as a strict science inspired many of his eminent students, including Christian von Ehrenfels, Edmund Husserl, Anton Marty, Thomas G. Masaryk, Alexius Meinong, Carl Stumpf, and Kazimierz Twardowski. |
