Ghost Spike is referring to the Clerks Animated Movie that is based on the short lived (but excellent) Clerks: Animated Series, which was based on the Clerks movie.
In a way this isn't really comparable to the Firefly situation since Clerks was a movie first and the animated series was using already established characters.
Clerks was first a movie then a live action TV series that Kevin Smith had nothing to do with and condemns anytime anyone mentions it.

The movie never says when they became friends, but it seems like they've known each other forever, which is one of the reasons Dante can't tell him off.
This is a movie where an actor could simply read the dialogue off a sheet of paper (and sometimes, maybe they are) and still get a big laugh.

Clerks never jumped, considering that the funniest moments are at the end and that Kevin Smith has all his creative energy towards the show right now, i think Clerks will be on for a while, and the Korean animation bit, and the rainy day fun with Jay and Silent Bob skits are the best
clerks stayed on a cool level of movie-bagging the entire time, and i am sad that it is gone.
Clerks the TV show was such a good idea, but maybe the traditional comedy of the movie was a little too racey for ABC.

The scene is one of those rare add ins that I can’t imagine watching the movie without from now on, although the scene can be watched separately for those who don’t want to watch the whole movie.
This cut of the movie is nine minutes longer, and includes the original, more depressing ending that Smith admits only existed because he didn’t know how to end his movie.

The dialogue of Clerks has accurately captured the street language common in the part of the country where the movie was filmed.
There are a few lines that come across as scripted, but this is often the result of the manner in which they're delivered (the actors are good, but not seasoned).
The main characters are Dante (Brian O'Halloran), a Quick Stop clerk who does his best to cater to his customers, and Randal (Jeff Anderson), the man behind the counter at a local video store who spends his time insulting and offending every potential renter.
