Clermont County was established in 1800 and was the eighth County established in the Northwest Territory.
Clermont County played an important role in the Underground Railroad due to it being just across the river from the slave owning states of Kentucky and Virginia.
In the county the population is spread out with 27.90% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 31.70% from 25 to 44, 22.60% from 45 to 64, and 9.40% who are 65 years of age or older.

The county population on July 1, 1999, was 178,749, an increase of 28,655 over the 1990 census.

In response to new federal stormwater requirements, Ohio EPA is requiring municipalities and townships in the most populous sections of Clermont County - as well as the County itself - to apply for stormwater permits by March 10, 2003.
Parts of Clermont County required to meet the new EPA regulations include: Clermont County, the City of Milford, the Villages of Amelia, Batavia and Owensville, as well as Batavia, Goshen, Miami, Pierce, Stonelick and Union Townships.
Ohio EPA will allow the County, townships and villages to develop a single management plan for the entire area, or each of the Phase II communities listed above may choose to submit its own plan and permit application.

The goal of the Clermont County Safe Communities program is to reduce traffic crash- related injuries and fatalities in Clermont County, Ohio.
The video featured appearances by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post Commander, the county sheriff and the University of Cincinnati's winning basketball coach, who is a county resident.
Groups throughout Clermont have requested that the video be presented at events and locations including town meetings, safety booths at malls, churches, local high schools and community association meetings.

Recently, during the bidding process concerning several vehicles, it was determined that the County's internet service may have been experiencing problems and the web server was not responding to and may not have been available for all potential bidders.
Being as this appeared to be an internal issue, and trying to be fair to all potential bidders, the decision was made that the two items being bid on at the time should be put back in the auction and the bid time period was to be extended.

BY  SHARON A. Grassy Run Historical Arts Committee was organized back in 1988 by a dedicated group of indidviduals who wanted to educate the public on the history of the Battle that had taken place on April 10th, 1792 here in Clermont County.
Grassy Run was poised to become the newest historical organization in Clermont county.
The mission was to educate the public on the settlement years here in the county by organizing the 200th anniversary of the battle between the members of Native American culture led by Tecumseh and the white culture led by Simon Kenton.
