	Complying With The Jeanne Clery Act
		The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is the landmark federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses.
		The "Clery Act" is named in memory of 19 year old Lehigh University freshman Jeanne Ann Clery (pictured right) who was raped and murdered while asleep in her residence hall room on April 5, 1986.
		The law was amended in 1992 to add a requirement that schools afford the victims of campus sexual assault certain basic rights, and was amended again in 1998 to expand the reporting requirements.

		That's the view from the family of Jeanne Clery, who was raped and killed as she slept in her dorm room at Lehigh University in 1986.
		Clery stressed that the responsibility lies with the victim to report sexual assaults to state and local police in order for the crimes to be prosecuted.
		Clery cited the case of a student who was told by an administrator to meet him at noon in the cafeteria and they would discuss the rape.

	Clery Act
		The Clery Act, originally enacted by the Congress and signed into law by President George Bush in 1990 as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, was championed by Howard & Connie Clery after their daughter Jeanne was murdered at Lehigh University in 1986.
		Because of this the Clery's have embarked on a crusade to make colleges and universities report crime statistics and to help students and prospective students be informed about crime and safety of these institutions.
		In accordance with the Clery Act, faculty advisors, counselors, the Dean of Students, and resident deans are also required to report crimes.
