CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Lumberjacks scored three unanswered goals to skate past the Grand Rapids Griffins 4-2 Saturday night, before a crowd of 4,828 at Gund Arena.
After beating the Lumberjacks in their first five meetings of the year, the Griffins have now dropped the last three contests against Cleveland.
The Griffins bench was left stunned in both amazement and frustration as the Lumberjacks hung on for the 4-2 victory.

The Coliseum opened to a Frank Sinatra concert on October 26, 1974, and throughout it’s existence was a highly regarded concert venue and a sought-after stop for major concert tours ranging from the Led Zeppelin to Whitney Houston.
Cleveland’s second attempt at major league hockey came when the NHL’s California Golden Seals were moved to the Coliseum for the 1976-77 season.

George Gund was a minority owner of the team and persuaded Swig to move the team to his hometown of Cleveland as the Barons in 1976.
In 2002, the San Jose Sharks, who were born from the Cleveland Barons, returned the Barons to Cleveland, but as an AHL team.
The new Cleveland Barons played at The Q for four years, but after the 2005-06 AHL season, the Barons’ franchise will pull up its stakes and head to Worcester, Massachusetts and be rechristened as the Worcester Sharks.

CLEVELAND, May 16th - An ownership group led by Cavaliers majority owner and Quicken Loans Chairman and founder Dan Gilbert has purchased the Utah Grizzlies American Hockey League (AHL) franchise.
The currently inactive AHL franchise will now be operated in Cleveland and call Quicken Loans Arena, also known as The Q, its home ice.
The AHL's Cleveland Barons recently concluded their final campaign at The Q. The Barons, the AHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, are relocating to Worcester, Massachusetts to start play there with the 2006-07 season.

Louis, Pittsburgh, and Tampa, but with the Muskegon/Cleveland Lumberjacks he was sensational, breaking the all-time points mark during the 1999-2000 season when he registered his 1,383rd career point.
Callander started slowly in junior with Regina, but in his last two seasons he produced staggering totals of 146 goals and 343 points, leading the league in 1981-82.
For much of his time in the IHL he was paired with best friend Dave Michayluk, another journeyman NHLer who became the IHLs all-time leading scorer, in large measure thanks to the passing of Callander.

Lalime's burst out of the gates and showed again he had alot of potential ending the season having played a big 41 games with 20 wins 12 loses and 7 ties.
Lalime started the 96 97 season with the Lumberjacks again going 6-6-2 in in 14 games before injuries to The Penguins top 2 goalies Tom Barrasso then Ken Wregget wen't down with serious injuries forced management to call Lalime and fellow Lumberjack goalie Phillipe Doureville to the NHL club to back stop the team.
