It was taken over by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board as part of the MMTB's general purchase of all the tramways in Melbourne (with the exception of the Victorian Railways trams between 1919 and 1922 and renumbered M 114.
Mainly used on lightly trafficked lines such as Point Ormond to Glenhuntly and Power St (the line they were imported for) it also saw extensive service as an all night tram until transfer to Footscray in 1956.
Tram 493, a standard Brisbane four motor tram, was built in 1949 at the Brisbane City Council's Milton Tramway Workshops and served Brisbane well until its withdrawal and sale to a Melbourne tramway enthusiast in 1969.

All told, my reaction is a positive one, firmly in line with my opinion that development of the north bank could turn Brisbane from a city like many others, to a more memorable place to live and visit.
Brisbane could benefit from more inner city high rise developments, particularly residential due to their unparalleled access to existing amenity, but to situate them along the river is clearly for monetary benefit only.
Brisbane is a fairly kind and friendly looking city, let's try and keep it that way by not building monoliths at the water's edge.
