		Click tracks suck, I hate them to death and they are the death of real music.
		While I've never played with a click track, the advice from a friend who ran a studio was for people who were unfamiliar to get high as hell, then to play along for an extra few minutes before starting tape, to get into the groove (though I'd assume this is bad for intros).
		The 'set the click track to twice the tempo' idea is good, but this might really kill any spontaneity in your playing, as you will have even more beats to keep time with, thus you will groove less during the off-beats.

		If you are not in a studio setting, you can probably give a set of headphones to the MD and/or drummer so they can hear the click, and use a piano as backing for the singers, placing it as far away as possible from your mics.
		Make sure that the singers know their parts (not your job, but suggest to the MD that it is best to record the singers some time into the rehearsal period), and suggest if they are struggling that you might do the recording in sections.
		This is easier if you have a number that has reasonable spaces (although if you have a recorder with more tracks than you need you can overdub and bounce down) and also if you have another track which has the bar numbers recorded onto it.

		My method is to paste a audio click on the quarter notes of the first measure and then copy to measures out to about 200 meas.
		Instead of a click track, you can use the Session Drummer to play any kind of metronome pattern on any softsynth (or any MIDI instrument).
