Tyler Morning Telegraph - CLIFTON WILLIAMS NOT MENTALLY RETARDED
Williams was convicted of capital murder by the jury for beating, strangling and stabbing to death 93-year-old Cecelia Schneider before setting her body on fire and stealing her car and purse.
During his examination, Williams was not psychotic, was very polite and did not appear to be malingering, or faking his answers, but was making an adequate effort to do well, he said.
He said he did not disagree with Williams being diagnosed with the mental illness by two doctors but he had serious questions with whether he was schizophrenic because of the rapid onset of the reported hallucinations from Williams and that he was diagnosed after short assessments with not much information available for the doctors.

Tyler Morning Telegraph - CLIFTON WILLIAMS SENTENCED TO DEATH
Clifton Lamar Williams was sentenced to death by lethal injection Friday for killing 93-year-old Cecilia Schneider.
To be sentenced to death, the jury had to answer "yes" to the first two questions, which the state had to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, and "no" to the last two questions, which the defense had to prove by a preponderance of the evidence.
She said she believed the murder had a great deal to do with Williams' mental illness that, she said, has plagued him since he was at least 12.
