DAVIES, MORRIS J., M.D., was born in Plainfield, Otsego county, January 18, 1865, being a son of David and Margaret (Richards) Davies, who in 1879, moved with their family to Paris, Oneida county, whence they removed in 1887 to Waterville, Oneida county, where they still reside.
Davies is a member of the Oneida County Medical Society, and of the Utica Medical Library Association, and a charter member of the Utica Medical Club, of which he was secretary and treasurer from 1893 to 1895 and president from March, 1895, to March, 1896.
DENTON, ALONZO, was born in Sandyhill, Washington county, in 1843, son of Daniel C. Denton, a native of Saratoga county and one of five children born to --- Denton, a soldier in the War of 1812: Richard, Daniel C., Clinton, Benjamin, and Phoebe.

This was an enormous county, including the northern part of New York State as well as all of the present State of Vermont and, in theory, extending westward to the Pacific Ocean.
Clinton County is in the northeastern part of New York State, just west of Vermont and south of the Canadian province of Quebec.
In the county the population was spread out with 23.00% under the age of 18, 12.40% from 18 to 24, 30.60% from 25 to 44, 22.10% from 45 to 64, and 11.90% who were 65 years of age or older.

The section, now comprised in, Oneida County, had been settled by Germans of the Palatinate and Puritans from the east, but at the end of the war the region was deserted and was reverting to the wilderness.
Governor Clinton and some of the personages of the State met the prominent chiefs of the Iroquois in what is known as "The Great Council," at Fort Stanwix in 1788, which resulted in the ceding to the whites of the whole of the Indian territory except the Oneida reservation.
It is bounded on the north by Oswego and Lewis counties; on the east by Herkimer County; on the south by Madison and Otsego; and on the west by Madison and Oswego.

It was named in honor of George Clinton, the first governor of New York State, and in 1843, by then the hub of the growing Town of Kirkland, it was incorporated as a village.
Founded in 1793 as Hamilton-Oneida Academy by the Rev. Samuel Kirkland, a missionary to the Oneida Indians, it was chartered as a college by the Board of Regents in 1812.
During the 19th century, Clinton was widely known for its many private secondary schools, a distinction that earned it the sobriquet, "Schooltown." For nearly one hundred years, these academies and seminaries met the educational needs of hundreds of students throughout the Northeast.

By the terms of the treaty between England and France, the French settlers were to be secured in their rights; but the Government of New York made conflicting grants, which gave rise to controversies and quarrels and seriously retarded the progress of settlement.
In 1838-40 the county shared the intense excitement attending the "Patriot Wars," and several encounters between the insurgents and the military authorities took place in the neighboring parts of Canada.
A tract of 231,540 acres in the northeast and central parts of the county was included in the lands granted by the Legislature of New York to the refugees from Canada and Nova Scotia at the close of the Revolution.

Langford T., born in Troy, New York, January 7, 1887; was educated in Troy Academy, Dorchester high school and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, from which he was graduated with the degree of civil engineer in 1909; he is now in the employ of the Mexican Northern railroad in northern Mexico.
His boyhood years were spent in Cayuga county, and he was admitted to the bar, served as judge, and lived in Penn Yan, New York, until 1856, when he went to St. Paul, Minnesota, and after one year to Leavenworth, Kansas, where he made his permanent home.
He was admitted to the bar in the state of New York, then went to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1842, and found he must study in a law office for one year before he could be permitted to practice in that state.

Bob was employed for 28 years with the New York State Department of Transportation in their tree crew department, first as a climber and later in his career as a supervisor.
Surviving are two daughters, Gerry Palmer and Lita Minkin, both of FL; one sister, Mary Tomaino, of New Hartford; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Rosemary Vomero, of Utica; and several nieces and nephews.
