		This county was reduced in size on July 3, 1766 by the creation of Cumberland County, and further on March 16, 1770 by the creation of Gloucester County, both containing territory now in Vermont.
		Clinton County is in the northeastern part of New York State, just west of Vermont and south of the Canadian province of Quebec.
		In the county the population is spread out with 23.00% under the age of 18, 12.40% from 18 to 24, 30.60% from 25 to 44, 22.10% from 45 to 64, and 11.90% who are 65 years of age or older.
