Clinton S. Ford Sr., a WWII Army veteran, earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart, died at home at the age of 82, January 8, 2006.
Ford, a native of Richmond, Virginia, enlisted in the Virginia National Guard when he was 18.
Ford was unable to talk about this part of his life, but through his association with art teacher Michelle Delano, who encouraged him to use his art to tell his story, he has produced over 100 canvases.

A man painting for a Clinton Township company with a history of scaffolding safety violations died Friday when a platform he was standing on collapsed in Detroit, state officials said.
Detroit Police Sgt. John Claiborne said the men's injuries were caused when the workers hit their heads on the platform as it fell some 20 feet from a portion of the I-75 bridge that stretches over the Rouge River.
The workers were all believed to be employed by Atsalis Bros. Painting Co. in Clinton Township, a company that records show was cited by the state nine times in the past five years for scaffolding or fall protection safety violations.
