The Charter Township of Clinton, usually referred to as Clinton Township, is a charter township located in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan.
The township is named for the Clinton River, which had been renamed at the first meeting of the Michigan State Legislature in honor of DeWitt Clinton, the popular governor of New York from 1817 to 1823.
In the township the population is spread out with 22.4% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who are 65 years of age or older.

 CLINTON TOWNSHIP: Moravian Hall to be rededicated Monday
Clinton Township pays tribute Monday to its rich history in a rededication ceremony of the old town hall, known as Moravian Hall.
After being used as the township's 19th century seat of government, a voting precinct, and a schoolhouse, the building needed repair.
Township Board of Trustees members will be taken via horse-drawn carriage from the Clinton Township Civic Center to Moravian Hall at the Historical Village as a symbolic "passage of time" explained Linda Walter, director of the Parks and Recreation Department and event planner.

More than 300 properties in Clinton Township that previously were not part of the floodplain now are in it, according to a newly proposed map, startling some township officials.
The new maps, introduced recently by FEMA in a Clinton Township open house, determine whether a property owner who makes payments on a federally insured mortgage is located in the high-risk floodplain and must obtain flood insurance, which generally costs between $400 and more than $1,000.
In Clinton, planners will appeal some of the designations independently of whether the property owners protest because some areas included in the floodplain should not be, Santia said.

The Clinton Township Board of Health is a volunteer organization comprised of five members and two alternates.
The Board is responsible for the Township dog-licensing program, the annual rabies vaccination clinic, and for recommendations to the Mayor and Council to contract for a Township veterinarian and an outside agency to serve as dog warden.
