The song was co-written by Dennis Wright and Clive Chin, Pablo's schoolmates at Kingston College, and produced by Chin at his father's Randy's studio in downtown Kingston.
Though Pablo was the most accomplished musician of the KC group, Chin says it was actually Wright who wrote the original draft of Java which was meant to be a ballad.
