Clive Nolan, the leader of both Arena and Pendragon, who, although well respected in the realms of rock, has never quite reached the international acclaim he should of done, and Oliver Wakeman, who has obviously inherited all father Rick's skills, and then some.
Having both Nolan and Wakeman as leaders of the project, obviously leads the music to be very keyboard orientated, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't leave room for the other musicians to sparkle - far from it.
Pete Gee, Nolan's band mate in Pendragon, handles all the bass parts in the story, often playing as a lead instrument along with the keyboards or underpinning the vocal sections and allowing them to tell the story while keeping the music flowing.

With Nolan (Pendragon, Arena) on keyboards and vocals, Karl Groom (Threshold) on guitar (and bass pedals), Ian Salmon (now in Arena, I believe) on basses (and acoustic guitar), and Nick Harradance on drums, this quartet took the Marillion sound into a bit harder edged territory, a more bass-heavy sound.
What sets this apart is Clive Nolan, because he doesn't sing like either Marillion frontmen, nor does he write lyrics the same way - though he does occasionally have the same poetic way with words that Fish had/has.
Nolan doesn't have a terrific voice, but I do like the way he sings, and the tone of his voice, which is somewhat rich.

 Medicine Man - Record Reviews
Clive manages to produce some great Arabian-style sounds before Karl's scorching guitar solo, but it is the sheet ambience of the pain and grief encapsulated by Ian makes this the track of the album.
That is until Clive is set free on the keyboards to unleash lashings of keyboard orchestration as the song builds to a final crescendo; Ian's cries soaring above the rest of the band as they build to the final epic climax.
Clive Nolan is shown as being responsible for the orchestration however, having listened to the album, I suspect that Clive's actual input goes far beyond this since some of the songs seem to carry very clear hallmarks of Clive's style.
