Riot/Clone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Their first two cassette albums, Musical Destruction (1980) and Crime Pays (1981) were only ever released in very small quantities, and only when they finally got the money together to release an EP in April 1982 ("There's No Government Like NO GOVERNMENT") did they make the jump to a wider audience.
This in turn led to the opportunity to record a Riot/Clone album, and the band were reborn.
The album was loosely themed around a short story that came printed on the lyric sheet of the blue vinyl release, and as a spoken word track on the CD.

Many albums that are offered today are assembled by placing the pictures behind mats and sticking those mats to the pages with adhesive strips.
With many of these types of albums, the print surfaces are exposed and not covered and some use adhesives that are not designed for photographs.
Our albums are flush mounted, meaning the photograph extends all the way to the edge of the page, "full bleed"; in fact the photograph is the page once mounted.

Its title notwithstanding, CLONE is a wholly original collaboration between acoustic guitar legend Leo Kottke and bassist Mike Gordon of Phish.
For Kottke, it is the 25th album (excluding compilations) in a career that dates back to 1968.
CLONE is the first "band" album Kottke has ever made, in the sense of being a true, fully credited collaboration with another musician.

What i want to do with the album and the videos i'm planning on making for it, is to display the things we like to hide about ourselves and society the most, and bring it out into the open.
"Jesus Clone" in ways is a metaphor for this, with the next great technological leap of cloning technology around the corner, it goes down to the central core of christianity, the resurrection of jesus, and the promise of eternal life.
This album "Jesus Clone" is about revealing that and discovering that nothing is really the way it has been shown or displayed to be, it’s about how society and religion has misrepresented ideas to itself for years, and the self-imposed inner resentment that has caused, which explains much of the chaos we see today.

To me, this album seems to be the same in places, but at the same time very different.
The album rages through the first three tracks, 'Lost Souls', 'Wings of Icaros', and 'New Life' before you get to a similar finesse style track that is similar to 'Ocean's Heart'.
As good as that album was, I think the band have developed, even with a couple of member changes (although I believe Esa did record this album) and show that they have the maturity it takes to stay around for a while.

Hypothetical is by no means as gloomy as Clone (one of the strenghts of the 1998 album) and could best be described as a cross between Clone and their earlier Psychedelicatessen (1994).
In fact the majority of the album consists of instrumental music with tracks of varying lengths, some of whom serve as mere fillers, yet which when heard in a global context constitute a fine album.
The possible drawback that this album seems to possess is that the vocals are in their entirety in French and this could pose a drawback to those who are intent on listening to and understanding lyrics.

This Djam Karet's third album, released by the band* at their own expenses back in 1989, is as original, complex and interesting an album as both the other mentioned ones.
Unlike the previous heavy and uncompromising album, this second one presents a big step towards the creation of their own indubitable mixture of melody, metal and progressivity.

Zeromancer seems to have found the right combination where the coldness of the machinery contrasts with their warm melodies, thus outdistancing them from the overproduction of Orgy and the apparent lightness of Stabbing Westward.

Along with John Fahey (who signed Kottke to his Takoma label for one album in 1972) and Peter Lang, Kottke was recognized as one of the most important evolutionary figures in Folk and Acoustic music.
In the late '80s, a painful bout of tendonitis forced Kottke to alter his hard-charging, finger-picking style to accommodate a more forgiving and less strenuous approach to his playing, but the effect on his overall sound was negligible as far as fans were concerned.
