Close Quarters Combat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Close Quarters Combat, or CQC, is used to describe an up-close military hand-to-hand fighting system, also known as combatives.
Similar up-close fighting with weapons is known as CQB or Close Quarters Battle.
Real CQC methods are similar, not relying on just unarmed moves but also making use of knives or guns in decisive combat with little time to think.

VOOT 411: Close Quarters Combat   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
CQC differs from regular combat as the fighting switches from projectile-based attacks to hand-to-hand fighting.
CQC attacks cannot be performed while in a dash or jump, regardless of the fact that your dash or jump brings up a double-lock.
Against Quickstep CQC attacks, the resolution is uncertain or may be dependent on the relative timing of each attack; sometimes the Jumping VR hits and sometimes it is the Quickstepping VR.

Close quarters battle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Close quarters battle (CQB) or close quarters combat (CQC) refers to fighting methods within buildings, streets, narrow alleys and other places where visibility and maneuverability are limited.
It should be noted that the U.S. Army's definition for these terms is MOUT, as their definition of CQB is actually CQM, and focuses solely on marksmanship techniques.
Military uses of close quarters battle vary by unit type, branch and mission.

Close Combat Kit   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
Proponents of military close combat must come up through the ranks on entry, basic and advanced courses before instructors courses are undertaken to ensure they know how to train, practise and employ the deadly skills.
There were many military close combatants that were well suited to close combat practises by the very nature of their prior work on farms, in the forestry and as hunters in the hills.
One must always remember combatants are trained to take out their enemy not take them on, and to do it quickly and quietly, however they must also, like in every aspect of their training, prepare for the worst case scenario.

Black Belt Magazine - your leading source for martial arts supplies, vidoes, DVD's and books.
While Fairbairn originally drew a great deal from jujutsu and judo, the brand of close combat he taught during World War II emphasized the atemi, or striking aspects, of the martial arts because they are easier to apply and have a more lethal effect than do throws and locks.
An essential component of World War II close combat is the edge-of-thehand blow, alter- natively known as the ax hand, the chop or the hack.
World War II close combat has been criticized as overly simplistic or even outdated, but Carl Cestari has made it his mission to remind us that the simple, proven methods devised during the first half of the 20th century can be relied upon in any life-ordeath encounter that crops up in the 21st century.

Russian CQC does not entertain these tactics due to their extreme duration and energy expenditure required for the apprehension and control of potential assailants.
Although, both Russian CQC and Russian Subject/Crowd Control both employ weapons, type and usage are diametrically opposed to one another: Russian Subject/Crowd Control demands expedient compliance and minimized force usage; Russian CQC desires the immediate elimination of the enemy.
Under combat conditions, what matters most is not technical proficiency or tactical fluency, it is the vital yet incalculable factor of morale: 90% attitudinal preparedness, 10% technical efficacy.

Understanding the critical decisions and responses necessary to save one’s life or that of another, in 1981 I established the Close Quarters Defense (CQD) System – an operationally focused, totally integrated program based on the concept that armed and unarmed defense skills and shooting/non-shooting responses must unify in all aspects of training.
CQD has been used operationally throughout the world, and its methods of validation and accountability are utilized by some of our nation’s top military special operations teams, police tactical units, and individual citizens to ensure readiness and provide the "critical edge".
