Clotaire II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Clotaire II (584-629), King of Neustria, and from 613-629 King of all the Franks, was not yet born when his father, King Chilperic I died in 584.
In 613 Clotaire II became the first king of all the Franks since his grandfather Clotaire I died in 561 by ordering the murder of the infant Sigebert II, whom the aging Brunhilda had attempted to set on the thrones of Austrasia and Burgundy, causing a rebellion among the nobility.
This led to the delivery of Brunhilda into Clotaire's hands, his thirst for vengeance leading to his formidable old aunt enduring the agony of the rack for three whole days, before suffering a horrific death, chained between four horses that were goaded in separate directions, eventually tearing her apart.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: The Franks
Clotaire reduced the Saxons and Bavarians to a state of vassalage, and died in 561 leaving four sons; once more the monarchy was divided, being partitioned in about the same way as on the death of Clovis in 511: Gontran reigned at Orléans, Charibert at Paris, Sigebert at Reims, and Chilperic at Soissons.
Clotaire III (657-70), son of Clovis, succeeded his father as head of the entire monarchy under the guardianship of his mother, Bathilde, with Erkinoald as mayor of the palace.
But like Clotaire II, in 614, Clovis was constrained in 660 to grant Austrasia a separate rule, and appointed his brother Childeric II its king, with Wulfoald as mayor of the palace.

Clotaire discovered the voluptous trove that is 20th century Middle Eastern music and divas like Oum Khalthoum, Fairouz and Asmahan, relatively late in life, due to the fact that his Lebanese mother and Egyptian father didn't want their boy to visit his relatives in Beirut as long as conflict raged there.
Indeed, everything about Clotaire K smacks of class, from his sleek b-boy orientalist graphics and promo shots, to the cliche-free and challenging discourse of songs like "Beyrouth Ecrouee", "Maqam" and "Le Criminel".
No doubt it's hard for Clotaire K to make a real mark in that ill-defined no-man's land between hip hop culture and the world music scene, with each side donning their blinkers and judging his work too 'different'.

 Clotaire K Lebanese
After spending a couple of years soaking in the hip-hop rhythms of NYC and LA, Clotaire returned to his home in southern France to set about creating his own expression of what hip-hop is: an album in which the braggadocio and formulaic approach of most American commercial hip-hop has been toned down significantly.
Most probably because of his Egyptian, Lebanese and French influences, Clotaire's English rhymes are not exactly on point - in fact much of it doesn't rhyme or flow in the traditional hip-hop sense at all.
Clotaire's forays into the drum'n'bass sound with "Bif Bam Boom," and more successfully with "Emigrate" are also to be noted.

He then endeavoured to enlarge his estates at the expense of Childeberts sons, Theodebert, king of Austrasia, and Theuderich II., king of Burgundy; but after gaining a victory at Laffaux (597), he was defeated at Dormelles (600), and lost part of his kingdom.
After the war between Theodebert and Theuderich and their subsequent death, the nobles of Austrasia and Burgundy appealed to Clotaire, who, after putting Brunhilda to death, became master of the whole of the Frankish kingdom (613).
In 657 he became the nominal ruler of the three Frankish kingdoms, but was deprived of Austrasia in 663, retaining Neustria and Burgundy until his death.
