Cloud Nine (Temptations album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cloud Nine is a 1969 album by The Temptations for the Gordy (Motown) label.
The song seems to suggest that the best way for someone to deal with the problems that come with being poor and fl in America was to "ride high on 'cloud nine'".
The one song that does not fit into either the ballads classification or the psychedelic soul classification is the Temptations' cover of the Gladys Knight and the Pips version of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine".

Indeed, many of the songs on Cloud Nine's latest CD, Notice Co Lounge (a play on "no disco"), have an almost Music Minus One feel, like studio musicians laying down a rhythm track that still awaits a stunning lead instrument.

George Harrison - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aside from a song on the Porky's Revenge soundtrack in 1984, his version of a little-known Bob Dylan song "I Don't Want To Do It", Harrison released no new records for five years after 1982's Gone Troppo was met with apparent indifference.
Harrison married model Pattie Boyd on 21 January 1966 at Leatherhead and Esher registry office, with Paul McCartney as best man, and is reputed to have written the song "Something" for her in 1969, although he himself denied this, saying he was actually thinking about a song for Ray Charles.
Harrison's mother Louise died of cancer during 1970; his song "Deep Blue" (which appeared as a 1971 single B-side) came from his hospital visits to her, and his awareness of the pain and suffering all around.

If 'Cloud Nine' were simply a decent record, it would still mark a major comeback for George Harrison, whose latter-day solo efforts have for the most part presented little more than a tired blend of spiritual, romantic and musical banalities.
The opening track, "Cloud Nine," is a surprisingly hard-edged midtempo rocker that features some tastily restrained riffing from Harrison and Eric Clapton.
Cloud Nine is an especially heartwarming return to form because it suggests Harrison has come to terms with his own Beatledom.

Cloud Nine - George Harrison - Song Listings
Teaming with legendary Beatles obsessive Jeff Lynne, George Harrison crafted a remarkably consistent and polished comeback effort with Cloud Nine.
Lynne adds a glossy production, reminiscent of ELO, but what is even more noticeable is that he's reined in Harrison's indulgences, keeping the focus on a set of 11 snappy pop/rock numbers.
The consistency of the songs remains uneven, but the best moments -- "Devil's Radio," "Cloud 9," "Just for Today," "Got My Mind Set on You," and the tongue-in-cheek Beatles pastiche "When We Was Fab" -- make Cloud Nine one of his very best albums.
