Durham County Cricket Club (Durham CCC) is an English domestic first-class cricket team based at the Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street, County Durham.
Early in 1989, the Club began the process of applying to become a first-class cricketing county and join the County Championship.
In its first three seasons in the Couny Championship, the Club played in a variety of locations around the county, but the Riverside ground was pronounced ready for cricket in time for the 1995 season, even though many of the buildings were still temporary or unfinished.

Sadly, the club was disbanded in 1957, due to a lack of players and for 20 years there was no cricket on the green, with local players forced to turn out for other local cricket clubs.
The club had the honour of a visit from the grand old man to a home league match last season and we were as delighted to see him as he was to see how his beloved cricket has been reborn and flourished in recent years.
As the standard of their cricket improves so the challenges facing Grimsargh will increase in magnitude but such is the enthusiasm and love for cricket in the club that the great strides made in the recent past should herald equally great things in the future.
