Cluj County, the most important administrational teritorial unit of Transilvania lays on a 6,674 square km area (2,8% of our country) in the north-western half of Romania.
The population of the county was 729,878 habitants on first january 1996, meaning of 103,4 habitants/square km, 68,5% are living in the town area.
The capital of the county is Cluj-Napoca, the fifth big city of the country, with 331,635 habitants, an important economic, cultural scientific and educational centre of the country.

Nokia, the world's largest handset maker, is to open a cell phone plant and a research center near the Transylvanian city of Cluj, Romanian officials said Thursday.
The Finland-based company is expected to invest euro200 million (US$267 million) in the project to build a technology center in the village of Jucu that will employ 15,000 people, said Cluj prefect Marius Nicoara.
