County Donegal (Irish: Contae Dhún na nGall) is a county in the northwest of Ireland.
The Irish spoken in the Donegal Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area) is of the West Ulster dialect, while Inishowen, which became English-speaking in the early 20th century, used the East Ulster dialect.
Donegal County Council's main offices are located in the County House in Lifford, but regional offices are located in Carndonagh, Milford, Letterkenny, Dungloe and Donegal.

The Morris Tribunal has found that gardaí investigating the death of Richard Barron in Co Donegal were negligent in their duties and that the investigation was prejudiced.
The finding was made in the tribunal's second report on garda corruption in Co Donegal, which was published today by the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell.
Labour's Joe Costello has insisted that there are still quite senior gardaí serving in Co Donegal who must share a great deal of the blame for what he called a shocking saga.

Unfortunately, we don't have much information to give, since our older generations have passed on and the generation before us didn't seem to care enough to pay attention to what they were told.
We do know that in late 1970's some of our family members from Pennsylvania were still in contact with family in Co. Donegal and either visited or were planning to visit at that time.
I'm hoping that someone in Co. Donegal will read this and recall keeping in touch with their American relatives from Pennsylvania.
