The Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation community grants program supports programs and projects in these designated communities that will improve the quality of life and provide opportunities for citizens to improve themselves and their communities.
Their art work will be displayed at the Coalgate Library and later at the Omniplex at the Kirkpatrick Center in Oklahoma City.

My mother in-law was a teenager in 1944,and living in Cottonwood and she said her friends and her would walked the 15 miles or so from Cottonwood to Coalgate to walked around the downtown area, and go to the movies in downtown area.
I loved the pictures of Coalgate I used to spend my summers there with my grandparents when I was younger, some of my most wonderful memories.
It was interesting to see Coalgate, my Mother was born there in 1910.
