  Coalisland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coalisland (Oileán a'Ghuail in Irish) is a small town in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, with a population of 4,917 people (in 2001 Census).
As its name suggests, it was a centre for coal mining and is also known as the birthplace of Dennis Taylor.
Coalisland is classified by the NI Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) as a Small Town (ie with population between 4,500 and 10,000 people).

Coalisland has had a long proud histroy of community involvement in the arts and especially in drama and music.
There are several accounts about the social life of Coalisland in the late 19th century when it could be argued Coalisland was at the height of it's industrial prosperity.
There were bands everywhere; the Coalisland Brass band, the Coalisland Flute band, Ballinderry Brass and Mahon Flute bands.

 Ramor United - Reserve League
A depleted Ramor side (minus their county hurlers and footballers) suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of a fit strong Coalisland outfit in this opening South Ulster League match in Virginia.
The game was played in a windy and cold setting with a strong Lough Ramor gale blowing.
The superior fitness of Coalisland showed in the second half and really Ramor had no answer to them.
