Speaking to the limited options for the people of the region under the agreement, Chloe Schwabe of the Share Foundation said, "sweatshops are not a sustainable or dignified solution to the hundreds of thousands of jobs that will be lost in El Salvador's rural sector.
In the face of President Saca's posturing about El Salvador being the first country to implement CAFTA, the message from the people continues to be total rejection of this disgraceful agreement," said Burke Stansbury of the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES).

When the existing law was drafted the people who worked on it knew smaller electoral districts had the advantage of the electorate getting to know who they are voting for but chose bigger districts as being more in line with the proportional system.
Under the Federal Government proposal, each of the 27 electoral districts in Serbia would elect three to six MPs (a total of 108) while Montenegro's districts would elect one to seven MPs (totaling 30) in accord with the constitutional principle that one MP represents 65,000 voters.
If the opposition beats the SPS in Serbia it would have a hard time finding a coalition partner in Montenegro and if it did find a coalition partner in the Chamber of Citizens, the SPS which controls the Serbian parliament could block them in the Chamber of Republics.

 Testimony on Peace Operations
In some cases, peacekeeping missions can help along peace processes in these types of conflicts-though there is admittedly no guarantee of peace, unless a coalition led by the United States or one of a small number of capable countries is willing to use combat force to sustain or impose a peace.
Humanitarian missions and peace operations have saved an uncertain number of people over this period, but possibly as many as several hundred thousand.
U.S. willingness to support peace operations and protect innocent lives around the world is not, of course, the main reason for this desirable geopolitical state of affairs.
