The action of establishment of the Belgrade coat of arms was resumed once again in 1931, by the president of the community (mayor) of the city of Belgrade, Mr.
With the confussion made by the use of two coats of arms, heraldically unacceptable, and with critical reactions of the citizens, in the beggining of 1991, the Assembly of the City of Belgrade initiated a procedure to solve the problem.
The working group concluded to restoration of the coat of arms of 1931, with three minor correction in graphical layout of the coat of arms, blazon of the coat of arms and the flag of the city.

 City of Belgrade - Belgrade Coat of Arms and Flag
The next coat of arms dates back to the time of Hungarian rule and it is presented in the heraldry register "Fugersko ogledalo časti" of 1555.
The tradition of Belgrade coat of arms has been interrupted under Turkish occupation, for the Turks haven't been familiar with this sort of symbols, and it has resumed again when the Austrians conquered Belgrade in the XVIII century.
It is important to mention that all of these coats of arms are known only by their prints on engravings or from the literature.

The municipality of Stari Grad ("Old Town"), part of the town of Belgrade has adopted a coat of arms and flag designed by Serbian Heraldry Society "White Eagle".
The flag is based on the first known coat of arms of Belgrade, dating from the XIII-XIVth century.
Stari Grad is the the oldest part of Belgrade city.
