Today's coat of arms had already been introduced for Dahomey in 1964, and was, like the flag of Dahomey, confirmed on the 1st of August, 1990.
During the years 1975–1990 the coat of arms showed a green disk, surrounded by a garland from corncobs, which were bound with a red ribbon.

Benin, officially the Republic of Benin, is a country in Western Africa, formerly known as Dahomey or Dahomania.
Politics of Benin takes place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Benin is both head of state and head of government, and of a pluriform multi-party system.
It is believed that Vodun (or "Voodoo", as it is commonly known) originated in Benin and was introduced to Brazil, the Caribbean Islands, and parts of North America by slaves taken from this particular area of the Slave Coast.

This Order was established by King Toffa of Porto-Novo (present day capital of Benin) to recognize the service of his loyal subjects and the French Colonial forces, which assisted them in the Dahomey War.
The Order is designed as a Maltese cross with four white enamel arms with borders of blue.

I am attaching the emblem from the website, and you'll notice that the shield of arms does not match the description in the Constitution: it is Gold with the charges Sable (fl), whereas it should be Sinople (green) with charges Gold.
The same source says that on the arms the weapons represent military achievement, the buffalo's head (zebu in the Constitution!) pastoralism and the maize (millet in the Constitution!) cobs agriculture.
