Coat of arms of Brazil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The coat of arms consists of the central emblem surrounded by coffee (at the left) and tobacco (at the right) branches, which are important crops in Brazil.
The Arms of the Empire of Brazil were used by both Emperors Pedro I and Pedro II until the downfall of the monarchy in 1889.
On the latter date, when Brazil's second emperor, Pedro II was crowned, using a new richer crown that was manufactured for him, the design of such Crown replaced the image of the older diadem in the coat of arms, and remained in use until the downfall of the Empire.

The coat of arms of the earliest recorded Grimshaw family line at Clayton-le-Moors is dominated by a griffin, a mythological creature that is half lion and half eagle.
Coats of arms and crests are a form of property and may rightfully be used only by the male-line descendants of the individual to whom they were first granted or allowed.
The formal description or ‘blazoning’ of a coat of arms proceeds along certain well defined lines, and an unknown coat of arms on a signet ring or monument, for example, may be identified by using an ‘ordinary’, which indexes arms by design and gives the names of families to whom they have been attributed.

This knowledge of the various devices and symbols was called Heraldry, and as the announcement was accompanied with the sound of a trumpet, it was termed “blazoning the arms.” The earliest coats of arms were fairly simple -- bars or wavy lines, a lion rampant or an eagle displayed, or an arrangement of fleurs-de-lis.
Regardless of their origins, coats of arms became military status symbols, and their popularity increased along with the popularity of the tournament, which was developed in the mid-eleventh century in France.
Though many people think that coats-of arms were granted only to nobility, they can actually be found for more than ninety percent of all names.

Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT)
The Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT) was formed in late 1988 to expose and oppose ARMX (the country's largest weapons bazaar), COAT's campaign resulted in a City of Ottawa bylaw forcing all military trade shows off municipal property.
By 1999, COAT's concept of conversion had evolved to include social, legal, psychological and economic factors essential to the transition from a world based on war, greed, deception and violence, where "might is right," to a world based on peace, justice, truth, human rights and nonviolence.
This issue of COAT's magazine provides shocking evidence showing that Prescott Bush and George H.Walker were the financial managers of well-organised American effort to funnel the investments of right-wing U.S. bankers and industrialists into Germany which funded the rise to power of the Nazi Party and Adolph Hitler.
