The planchet diameter is 37 mm, and bears the Ottoman military coat of arms on the obverse, with its inscription "Relying on Divine Guidance and Assistance, Abdulhamid Khan, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire".
This decoration is the only Ottoman decoration which not awarded by authority of the Sultan, but rather was authorized by Enver Pasha, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ottoman military.
