 | | In November 2003, the Washington State Building Code Council formally adopted the 2003 Edition of the International Building Code (IBC); International Residential Code (IRC); International Mechanical Code (IMC); International Fire Code (IFC), and other related I Codes as part of an Historic and Nationwide process. |
 | | While the basic aspects of building construction with which we are all familiar will not appear to change much under these new I codes, many of the actual criteria and methodologies for the design and construction of new buildings and the systems within buildings structural, exiting, mechanical, fire protection, etc will change. |
 | | In contrast to the single, 'prescriptive' Code Compliance path required by the Uniform Building Code, the IBC will provide for, and require documentation of design and construction by means of one of multiple potential "Code Compliance Options". |
