		It is named for Albert E. Cobo, mayor of Detroit from 1950 to 1957.
		However, it is considered somewhat undersized for this purpose, and a variety of proposals are currently being floated for either expanding the hall's convention space (possibly by eliminating either Cobo Arena or Joe Louis Arena) or building an entirely new convention center.
