In later game pieces, like Cobra (the most recorded and performed of Zorn's game pieces), the rules are more open (there is, for example, no attempt at having all possible combinations of players perform together, and there is no notated material) and the ways in which performers can interupt the proceedings are more elaborate.

BBC - Experimental Review - John Zorn, Cobra
Cobra is probably the most celebrated of John Zorn's 'game' pieces (the lineage also includes Rugby, Archery and Lacrosse).
Zorn guides a large and diverse improvising ensemble via cards indicating style, speed of delivery and so on, thereby getting a credit as 'prompter'.This kind of directed improvisation has its roots in the work of John Cage and Stockhausen, but Zorn's aesthetic is different.
Purists may insist that Zorn's aesthetic is a superficial one, reliant on the quick fix and post modernist pileup; the new music equivalent of the fart gag.

 fUSION Anomaly. John Zorn
One extension of this idea to its extreme can be found in any performance of John Zorn's jazz game "Cobra," wherein pieces are created by improvising on a group of rhythmic and tonal elements; the order, development, and specific character of each piece is determined by a series of cue cards and hand gestures.
It's absolutely hysterical to watch, and unlike most of the Zorn catalog, it often veers dangerously close to tonality.
Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti and a few others have played with it; they use composed fragments that the performer can permute in different orders.
