Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a university in Kochi, India.
Originally known as University of Cochin, the University came into being in 1971 through an Act of the Legislature that was the result of a concerted campaign for quality postgraduate education in the State of Kerala.
Reorganization of the University into Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) saw the fulfilment of the aspirations of the pioneers that spearheaded the movement for establishment of a science and technology university in the State.

The Cochin University of Science and Technology, originally known as University of Cochin, came into being in 1971 through an Act of the Legislature that was the result of a concerted campaign for a Centre for quality postgraduate study and research in the state of Kerala.
By the Cochin University of Science and Technology Act 1986, the University of Cochin was reorganised and converted into a full fledged University of Science and Technology for the promotion of graduate and post graduate studies and advanced research in Applied Science, Technology, Industry, Commerce, Management and Legal Studies.
Cochin University Library, established in 1977, has built up a balanced and rich collection on all branches of Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Language and Legal Studies.

Another project on post-harvest technology attempts to study the biochemical and spoilage pattern of prawn in marine and brackish waters.
The Department of Atmospheric sciences was formed in January 1996 by fabricating the erstwhile Physical Oceanography and Meteorology Division of the School of Marine Sciences, as a part of the academic restructuring of the University.
Although earnest research efforts in chemical oceanography had commenced around 1976, it was in 1983 that the erstwhile Department of Marine Sciences was reorganized, in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants commission, into a School of Marine Sciences with Chemical Oceanography as one of the four constituent, but academically and administratively independent, Divisions.

Contents of your project abroad The basic goal of the research was “to contribute to the sustainability of research done at the International School of Photonics (ISP) at the Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala, India through commercialization of applications”.
ISP is part of a collaboration program with the Eindhoven University of Technology within a government program that is called MHO.
There was no industry interaction with the university on a very large scale and the content of this project was to find out why and how this could be solved.
