	Cocke County, Tennessee Genealogical Records Information
		Cocke County was established on October 9, 1797 from a part of Jefferson County, Tennessee.
		Cocke County took it's name from William Cocke, one of the two first US senators from the State of Tennessee, and a friend of John Sevier.
		Cocke County has had it's troubled times, but it is coming into its own with the expansion of the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge areas in Sevier County next door.
