 [No title]
Cocktail is a stimulating liquor composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters -- it is vulgarly called a bittered sling and is supposed to be an excellent electioneering potion, inasmuch as it renders the heart stout and bold, at the same time that it fuddles the head.
Cocktails were for "sissies and limp-wrist types" and "'hen-parties' given by well-to-do matrons and their debutante daughters" (1980: 339).
Cocktail music's blend of pianos, vibraphones, guitars, and sultry ballroom orchestras is fashioned precisely to allay the nightclub's potential bedlam of bristling egos, inebriated banter, and clinking crystal.

Quality Films v. Cocktail Chit-Chat: Navigating the Festival Circuit
In today's climate of over 1,000 film festivals around the world, making the right choices as to where and how to submit one's film for the best possible results is more and more of a dilemma.
"Films that come in earliest are also usually the best." Another very important aspect of the submission process, and of festival-going, is raising awareness about one's film.
That way, not only are programmers familiar with it when they consider the film, but also distributors have usually heard of it and are more likely to seek it out during festivals.

“Cocktail” with its fantastic tagline of “When he pours, he reigns” is an archetypical film of the 80’s with its high importance placed on money and materialism whilst the fashions and the soundtrack does the rest.
The film is as fake and as obvious as the 80’s shoulder pads and is pretty clearly nothing but a stage to show off the young good looks of Tom Cruise.
But that’s not to say the film isn’t an enjoyable romp through the sights and sounds of yesteryear and it’s well filmed and on the whole quite well acted.
