| | Cocoon Movie Review at Hollywood Video (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07) |
 | | A well-crafted piece of escapist filmmaking similar in tone to Steven Spielberg's far superior E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1983), Cocoon is chiefly appealing for its ensemble cast of veteran actors/actresses, who have charm to spare. |
 | | Yes, the "friendly alien" storyline is a bit familiar and the sap quotient is high, but it's frankly hard to resist a movie that gives such golden oldsters as Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy, Wilford Brimley, and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Don Ameche a rare chance to strut their stuff in starring roles. |
 | | Consistently entertaining and frequently quite funny, especially in the scenes of the old-timers living it up like college kids on spring break (a PG-rated spring break, that is), Cocoon also treats the issue of aging with sensitivity and matter-of-fact directness. |
