Cod submerged to her 300-foot test depth and ran at her top underwater speed of 8.5 knots for 10 minutes to clear the firing point, which was clearly marked by the white wakes of Cod's steam-powered torpedoes.

I visited the USS Cod in Cleveland on Thursday September 25, 2003 and was totally blown away by the degree of restoration on this boat (yes, they call subs boats).
This is not meant to downplay the fine restoration work being done by groups like the Slater DE 766 in Albany, NY or the LST 325 organization.
Much of the equipment on the Cod actually works-thanks to dedicated volunteers like "Diesel Dave" and "Dick the Electronics Whiz." If you have something you think they can use, contact me and I will forward your email to the appropriate person.

Named Sagamore on 16 July 1948, she continued general towing duty, ranging the Atlantic, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico.
Primarily engaged in coastal operations, Sagamore towed Cod (SS-224) from New London to Cleveland, via the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1959; assisted in the consolidation of the reserve fleets in 1960; and towed APL-41 from Mayport, Fla., to Holy Loch, Scotland, in 1961.
