All the while Cody was earning a reputation for skill and bravery in real life, he was also becoming a national folk hero, thanks to the exploits of his alter ego, "Buffalo Bill," in the dime novels of Ned Buntline (pen name of the writer E. Judson).
In 1872 Buntline persuaded Cody to assume this role on stage by starring in his play, The Scouts of the Plains, and though Cody was never a polished actor, he proved a natural showman, winning enthusiastic applause for his good-humored self-portrayal.
Cody died on January 10, 1917, and is buried in a tomb blasted from solid rock at the summit of Lookout Mountain near Denver, Colorado.

Cody is a city in Park County, Wyoming and named after William Frederick Cody, primarily known as Buffalo Bill, from William Cody's part in the creation of the original town.
Cody is located at the western edge of the Bighorn Basin, a depression surrounded by the Big Horn, Wind River, and Absaroka ranges.
Most of Cody has a spectacular view of Heart Mountain, whose 8000 ft (2,400 m) peak is 9 miles (14 km) directly north of Cody, and the Carter Mountains, which form a line with peaks at about 12,000 ft (3,700 m), some 15 miles (24 km) to the south.

The proportions for this Compound Cody are in the 1983 reprint of "The Penguin Book of Kites".
There have had a number of requests for the plans and it seemed a good idea to make another with the sewing habits/ techniques I use now versus how constructed when originally built.
I have made several of the more commonly recognized Cody Bat Wing kites and this Compound Cody flies in much lighter winds and certainly doesn't have the lift (pull) of the Bat Wing version.
