Performance of an adaptive coherent receiver with maximum-ratio combining and that of a differentially coherent receiver with equal-gain combining are evaluated analytically, showing functional dependence on the fading rate of the channel and the number of active CDMA users.
The comparison of the two receiver structures indicates that the coherent decorrelating receiver with diversity reception may be preferable to the differentially coherent one in nonselective fading CDMA channels with memory.
To analyze the impact of channel estimation errors on the receiver performance, error probability of coherent decorrelating receiver is assessed directly in terms of fading rate and the number of active users, showing the penalty imposed by imperfect channel estimation as well as fading-induced error probability floor.

DTS Coherent Acoustics is a competing codec to that developed by Dolby Laboratories and marketed as AC-3®, which we covered extensively during its pre-introduction period last year, and continue to do so on an on-going basis.
The purpose behind the development of DTS Coherent Acoustics® was to enable mastering quality digital audio to be delivered to the home on existing and proposed new me-dia platforms.
Within the DTS Coherent Acoustics framework is a digital audio compression methodology which operates directly on the linear PCM data in order to reduce the bit rate, with-out affecting the fidelity of the audio signal itself.

Nature works with energy in discrete packages which gives rise to the perception that the universe is made up of fixed points and objects that are in a steady state, that is to say, they are physically real or quantifiable.
The language of music and the science of acoustics therefore provide a powerful system means for understanding and working with energetic systems in general.
And the understanding of acoustics with respect to physics and metaphysics leads us back to a deeper awareness of music and all it entails.

 Sigma Acoustics Ouverture Loudspeakers [English]
The midrange, warm and mellow, is decidedly coherent with the lower range, and the musical message uninterruptedly flows toward the mid-high range, which - due to its calm, refined and balanced characteristics - can occasionally seem euphonic with some types of music.
This coherence is retained also in the big dynamic contrasts that the Ouvertures can follow with completeness, adequate velocity and an appreciable sense of realism.
The notable price difference to the next model up in the Sigma Acoustic catalogue (the Image), leads one to suspect that it is the result of a definite strategic and commercial choice to keep the final price level of the brand’s "entry level" model (Ouverture) as low as possible.

Cramped Quarters - Principles of Audio-Data Compression   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
Coherent Acoustics uses a combination of technologies; whether it qualifies as a perceptual coding system depends on the data and ratio as compared to the original source.
In this application, then, Coherent Acoustics qualifies for the select category of virtually lossless data reduction schemes, warranted to be fully transparent to the listener, but not fully lossless at the data level.
Coherent Acoustics is best known for its use in high-end surround for DVD.

On the other hand, such systems can, in one sense, be regarded as coherent since the coherency of the frontal image is ensured by the use of decorrelated sounds in the rest of the audio image.
However the degradation as the listener moves off centre is relatively graceful and sufficiently similar to what would happen in a natural soundfield as not to be unduly disturbing to a listener [26].
Furthermore, the acoustic interactions and disturbances caused by having so many microphone capsules occupying a small volume, which can already be observed in the first order soundfield microphone, have not been examined though they will undoubtably pose more of a problem than in the first order case.

We consider particularly coherent control of the exciton density and spin and resonant Rayleigh scattering.

A Free Electron Laser generates tunable, coherent, high power radiation, currently spanning wavelengths from millimeter to visible and potentially ultraviolet to x-ray.
It can have the optical properties characteristic of conventional lasers such as high spatial coherence and a near diffraction limited radiation beam.
It differs from conventional lasers in using a relativistic electron beam as its lasing medium, as opposed to bound atomic or molecular states, hence the term free-electron.
