The aquifer occupies four deeply incised bedrock valleys formed by the junction of the Chemung River and its principal tributaries, the Canisteo, the Tioga, and the Cohocton Rivers, in southeastern Steuben County, N.Y. fig.
The Little Androscoggin River Valley aquifer is an example of a valley-fill glacial aquifer deposited by meltwater streams that flowed away from stagnated or melting glacial ice in lowland bedrock valleys that were either partly or completely inundated by the ocean.
Thus, precipitation that falls on the Little Androscoggin River aquifer and the surrounding basin area is the source of all water in the basin.

We put in the river in the town of Cohocton at the bridge right after Wilcox St. That section was the worst, some rough water and lots of garbage.
Along the entire length of the river there were a lot of downed trees that collected branches and garbage.
Along the way there was a lot of trash in the river, much of it seemed to be from roadwork crews-orange barrels, signs, orange cones.

Responding to concerns about the potential for increased traffic, NYSDOT and Steuben County modified two intersections in the town of Erwin and are building a new bridge over the Cohocton River to accomodate for additional traffic.
In addition, the state and county have been building a new bridge over the Cohocton River linking Lynn Morse Dr. and Canada Rd. with NY 415 in Painted Post.
Lynn Morse Dr. is being realigned to meet up with the new bridge spanning the Cohocton River (Left side of photo).

At the thirty-seventh session of the Legislature, in 1814, a resolution was adopted in the Senate, and afterwards concurred in by the Assembly, authorizing and requiring the Surveyor General to explore and survey the outlet of the Crooked lake and the ground between the head of the lake and the Cohocton.
He was also directed to report a proper plan to connect, by means of locks and canals, the waters of the Seneca lake with the Cohocton river, together with an estimate of the probable expense of the work and such other information as he deemed useful.
Doubt less the Surveyor-General considered the work impracticable, for no report was rendered and the question of a canal between these lakes was held in abeyance.
