Some Kasilof homeowners had such an experience this summer when a property-clearing project unearthed a time capsule buried in 1960 by Hans Peter Jensen, one of the first people to settle in Cohoe along the banks of the Kasilof River in the early 1900s.
Jensen, an immigrant from Denmark, also included family photographs from his homeland, a Danish flag, coins and some Alaska wildflowers.
He walked to Anchorage to take a job with the Alaska Railroad before moving to Cohoe in 1920 to start a fox farm.
